The truck driver recently involved in a deadly auto accident on Route 95 has a troubling driving record including at least seven truck accidents and ten personal injury lawsuits filed against him over the past 15 years.
The truck accidents include one in Union Township that seriously injured a Pennsylvania man and prompted a fine for careless driving. Dimitrios Tseperkas, the driver of the semi truck in both accidents, has reached a settlement with the injured motorists.
In the recent Pennsylvania truck accident that killed 3 people, Tseperkas failed to stop his truck in time to avoid crashing into traffic that had slowed in his path.
At the time of the accident there were also three outstanding warrants for Tseperkas's stemming from tickets he received for driving his semi truck overweight and for an equipment violation.
Court records show that ten auto accident lawsuits have been filed against Tseperkas since 1990 in connection with seven accidents in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Tseperkas told attorneys in a 2004 deposition on the Union accident that he drives about 100,000 miles each year.
Tseperkas is licensed in New York, where officials say he is still in good standing.
