Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed by Pennsylvania Trash Collector

Back to Wrongful Death

A wrongful death lawsuit was recently filed against Duquesne Light Co. by the wife of a trash collector who was killed when his garbage truck pulled down a utility pole.

Matthew Goldsmith, 28, was riding on the back of a Green Ridge Waste Services truck in Castle Shannon on March 9 when the truck clipped a power line, which pulled down the pole onto Goldsmith.

Attorneys for Kristina Goldsmith said they filed the wrongful death lawsuit in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court to obtain records from Duquesne Light regarding the company's investigation into the death and the pole's maintenance and inspection history.
